Design a business card for an environmental consultant. Business cards are usually made of paper. But using paper, even recycled, is not good for the environment. To avoid this issue, the solution was to not print any card at all, but to create a rubber stamp and then “recycle” anything that is at hand (carton paper, cigarette packs, napkins, and other wastes) into business cards. The new “business card” communicates clearly what this proffesional offers: clever new ways of recycling, saving money and protecting the environment. More than a card it’s a piece of communication.

TYPO Berlin started out in 1995 as a design and media conference bringing people together.

TYPO Berlin is one of Europe’s most important regularly scheduled typography conferences. Each year, the conference is dedicated to a thematic motto. The TYPO online archive contains a wealth of information about previous conferences. On the video blog you can see lectures from previous years and the TYPO Berlin blog will keep you up to date on this year’s events.

FontShops 14th International Design Conference, TYPO Berlin 2009, starts Thursday. This year’s theme is SPACE. Over three days, more than 50 speakers working on four stages will expand your horizons, providing inspiration, technical tips and entertainment. This year will see even more lectures, discussions, workshops, initiatives, networking and roundtables.

From the plastic button of an iPhone application to installations that fill entire spaces: The issue of spatiality plays an increasingly important role in the work of many visual designers. Luminaries from the disciplines of graphics, design, media and art will present their positions at the TYPO Berlin Among the speakers are well-known designers such as: Chip Kidd – Joshua Davis – Sol Sender ( designer of Barack Obama’s candidacy logo ) – Gerard Unger and many more

siwapp is an open source web application, built with PHP (Symfony), that enables anyone to create & manage invoices with ease.

The application has a slick interface & provides a simple usage to create professional-looking invoices.

Open Source Invoicing

Some features of siwapp:

  • invoices with different serial numbers can be managed
  • invoices can be downloaded as PDF files
  • periodical invoices can be created automatically
  • & more

siwapp uses MySQL to store data & if you need periodical invoices to be e-mailed automatically, a scheduling system (like cron) must be used.

It can also work as a module (be integrated to other business management applications) with the API support.
