Futureo: The Cicada and the Ant
Post pobrano z: Futureo: The Cicada and the Ant
The Cicada and the Ant, a famous French tale written by Jean de la Fontaine, confronts two symbolic characters. The first one, the Cicada, represents fun, idleness and carefree spending, the second one, the Ant, represents thrift, discipline and savings. For 400 hundred years, these two characters have been separated. But not anymore with the new Futureo cash back program.

Fabricate Yourself | Karl D.D. Willis
Post pobrano z: Fabricate Yourself | Karl D.D. Willis

Fabricate Yourself is a project that documented the Tangible, Embedded and Embodied Interaction Conference.
„Usually we think of documentation in terms of text, photography and video, but given the tangible theme of the conference we decided to engage the community by capturing and fabricating small 3D models of attendees. This enabled us to build a tangible model of the event and fabricate it piece by piece during the conference.”
Attendees firstly capture their favorite pose using a Microsoft Kinect. The depth image from the Kinect is processed into a mesh and displayed onscreen in real-time. At any time they can capture the mesh and save it as an STL file. The STL files were printed using a Dimension uPrint 3D printer.

Created by Karl D.D. Willis.
The project took place during January 2011 in Funchal, Portugal.
Software developed using openFrameworks.
Thank you to Ian Oakley, Nicolas Villar, James Scott, Mark Gross and Cheng Xu for getting this project off the ground and keeping it running during the conference.

Little Magic Stories
Post pobrano z: Little Magic Stories
Little Magic Stories brings the imagination of children to life through storytelling, performance and technology. This installation aims to encourage children to use their creativity to bring stories to life. It helps to improve their confidence in self expression and develops literacy and speaking skills. The installation allows them to create a performance from within their imagination, on stage, in front of an audience of family and friends.
The use of technology literally brings their drawings to life on stage, allowing them to interact and respond to their creations in real time. By using a holographic projection film; sets, characters and objects appear to float on stage alongside the performers. A camera and custom software track the performers, allowing the scene to react in a playful & more dynamic way.
For children who show disinterest in writing stories and drawing, but love to play video games, this project hopes to inspire them to participate, creating their own immersive worlds that they can be proud to express their own creations through.

Manage HTML5 Canvas Easily – jCanvaScript
Post pobrano z: Manage HTML5 Canvas Easily – jCanvaScript
jCanvaScript is a JavaScript library that comes with methods to controlling HTML5 canvas in a less-complicated way.
The library is completely object-oriented and besides the canvas context, it provides access to mouse/keyboard events, drag 'n' drop and object animation.
Creating new objects is very straightforward with various built-in objects like .circle(), .rect(), .image(), and much more.
Also, there is a huge set of functions that can complete almost any possible action within a single line.
jCanvaScript is very well documented and comes with examples for every feature.
