For me it is still amazing to see this guy going strong after 4 years running around as Robin Hood of the Joomla project. Today is a special day; Robin Muilwijk former forum moderator and all times top poster (15.107 posts) has turned 40. Congratulations Robin with reaching this milestone and that new suit looks pretty awesome, hope it is not the new EzPublish power-suit because then the other CMS projects are in deep trouble
Some time ago I upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala 64bits so I can use all 8Gb of RAM on board. All my applications work like a charm, the new Virtualbox 3.1 is even nicer but when I installed Eclipse PDT I noticed a problem with the buttons in screens after I tried to get the Subclipse application installed in the PDT installation…nothing worked!
So I needed to move to command line Subversion management since that doesn’t come out of the box with Eclipse PDT. Very annoying, because I use the Subclipse add-on not only for committing, exporting or merging, I also use it to check certain commits with the history option, and most important I am lazy by nature (all coders seem to suffer from that habit). Posted a question on the Eclipse forum and sadly got no reply, but today I found the answer to my problems from which […]
Google Browser Size is a visualization tool by Google Labs that shows any website behind an overlay of browser-window-sizes average
The overlay information is actually created from the data of people who visit Google (which won't be wrong to call it an average).
The tool is perfect for learning what percentage of the visitors are seeing the most important parts at initial load & what are they missing.
When you move the mouse, a rectangle which follows the mouse pointer enables us to interact with the website. And, optionally, the opacity level can be changed.
But, like mentioned, it is created with the data from google.com & will work for websites that target average internet users. It would be great to see this integrated into Google Analytics creating a custom overlay.
Meerkat is a jQuery plugin for creating a fixed content on the top or bottom of the page which keeps its position when the page is scrolled.
The content displayed can slide or fade in & can be configured with the options provided.
There is a close option, which closes Meerkat until the page has been reloaded, or a dontShow option, which closes it until the browser session has ended, or for a set amount of days, totally configurable.
It is also possible to define the background color, height & animation speed of the Meerkat easily.
The plugin is very useful for displaying sticky banners & notifications or creating a splash page (an example exists in the plugin page).

C’est pas la 1ere fois que l’idée des gros super héros est utilisée, mais là ils sont carrément dans la même situation… bref une ressemblance un peu trop grosse pour être totalement fortuite? Un télescopage paru d’abord dans CB News magazine N°1037
